Oh Tina, at least you now know what it actually is.

I agree that you must try the splints/physio before the op..

How about the sciatica, could he advise on this pain too?

Much love,

A

Glad that you have had it confirmed at last. It is a simple operation and I certainly had very minimal pain afterwards. Recovery was quick compared to anything else I have had done. The relief from the pain and from dropping things was such a relief that i will have my other hand done when it gets bad enough without any hesitition. The splints did nothing for me but may well work for you. Don't hold your breath though!

Just so relieved that you have had it diagnosed. now for the sciatica!!!!

Hi Tina
Glad that you know what the problem is now.
I too have this but because I was not feeling well and was fed up with medical things
I decided not to have the op, I used the splints which seemed to work very well at night and I tried to rest them
as much as pos. End result they are fine now most of the time, when i can feel that they are flaring up I put the
splints back on and it seems to do the trick. I did have it quite badly so I really hope that this will wpork for you to.
P.S. this was 2 years ago!!
Love Melanie

well done for getting the appt through Tina.

A friend of mine with carpal tunnel had both wrists operated on one after the other- had great results from it. I understand it is a very painful condition.

So if the splints dont work- do go for the surgery!

Hi Tina, I hae carpal tunnel too, as well as the RA. I was given night splints, but they are uncomfortable to wear (maybe just me) and I dont wear them. When I went for the test for the carpal tunnel the doctor insisted that they must be worn, (mainlhy in my left, and slightly in the right hand) but they make me so hot, that I pull them off in the night lol. Did ask in rheumy clinic for day time ones, or resting splints and was told no such thing!!! I know thats rubbish, but so is my clinic!! Hope they work well for you, if not def go for the surgery, its meant to be really great. Smile

Hi Tina, I hope the splints work. My hubby had the surgery for carpal tunnel about 7 years ago, it worked really well and He made a quick recovery.

Hope this helps!!

Hi Tina

I'm glad you've been given a diagnosis, it would be worth trying splints first before going for the op. It sounds as though the op is a successful one, if you do have to go ahead with it.
